“Childhood Obesity is no joke”
Awareness campaign on obesity in Brazilian children and adolescents
Recognizing childhood obesity as an important public health problem, the Desiderata Institute, with the support of other partner organizations, launched the campaign Childhood Obesity is no joke.
The campaign aims to encourage the public, especially parents and caregivers, to address the many factors that influence the high rates of childhood obesity in Brazil and around the world.
Through this initiative, we aim to help society better understand what changes need to be made to promote policies and environments that will be effective in reversing the alarming rates of childhood obesity in the near future.
This action was developed in collaboration with ACT Health Promotion and is supported by Umane, Alliance for Healthy and Adequate Food, Alana Institute, Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection (IDEC), the Center for Nutritional Recovery and Education (CREN), the Institute for Health Policy Studies (IEPS), Ibirapitanga, Brazilian Society of Pediatrics (SBP), and the Center for Epidemiological Research in Nutrition and Health (NUPENS – USP).
